Shark Sightings Are Up This Year And We're Not Surprised

On Cape we know that purple and red flags on the beach means sharks and Maine has adopted the same warning to inform swimmers sharks have been sighted.

The Purple flags fly on Cape Cod beaches to remind swimmers that the ocean is a habitat for sharks.

The Red flag means sharks have been sighted and it is not safe to go in the water.

Since more sharks have been seen off the coast of Maine these flags will be used at the following beaches and coastal parks in Maine. Mitchell Field, Mackerel Cove and Cedar Beach.
