Have you ever heard of the giant hogweed?
I never had until today...and it's a NASTY plant!
Contact with the toxic sap from the giant hogweed can lead to painful, burning blisters, 3rd degree burns and even blindness!
And...it grows here in Massachusetts, along with other New England, Mid-Atlantic & Northwestern states!
Now, giant hogweed was even once a problem in Sandwich, but it was eradicated by the state there. However, Martha's Vineyard still has an issue with it!
If you ever happen to see it...DON'T TOUCH IT! Instead, call the state Department of Agriculture so they can get rid of it safely!
