The answer: Married People

MARRIAGE TURNS PEOPLE INTO THE BIGGEST SPENDERS

In a survey of over 135,000 adults, Gallup says married individuals, on average, spend $102 daily. That’s compared to couples living together where the average spent per partner is $98 a day. Meanwhile, the poll says that divorced individuals spend an average of $74 on a daily basis while people who’ve never tied the knot average about $67 in expenses per day, followed by widowed people at $62. What’s more, married folks in all age groups were still tops in spending compared to all other marital status categories. Although the marriage rate in the U.S. has fallen over the past several decades, Gallup maintains there’s “a pent-up demand for marriage” that could finally reverse the trend.
