Former President Carter Remembered For Decency, Dedication To Country

The U.S. and Massachusetts flags are flying at half-staff on the Cape and across the Commonwealth to honor former President Jimmy Carter who died Sunday at the age of 100.

Governor Maura Healey says the flags will remain lowered on all state buildings until January 28th.

The governor says President Carter lived a life dedicated to peace, human rights, democracy and moral clarity.

She says he also set an enduring example of what it means to serve others, and his legacy will continue inspire generations to come.

The governor sends love and strength to the Carter family and may everyone honor his memory by building a more just, peaceful, and caring world.

Congressman Bill Keating said: "President Carter lived a life we should all aspire to - with humility and honesty, selflessness and faith, and an unwavering devotion to his fellow man. This country is better for his service to it."
