Army National Guard Calls For More Study Of Controversial

The Massachusetts Army National Guard is calling for a collaborative effort with the EPA to further study the possible effects of a machine gun range proposed for JBCC.

The agency's draft findings on the proposal showed the range could potentially contaminate Cape Cod's only source of drinking water.

However, at a jam-packed public hearing on the issue in Sandwich, the commander of the base's training facility pointed to the EPA's own studies that showed the contents of the materials that'll be used at the range won't show up in the water table.

He called for a joint study on the potential contaminants to put everyone's fears to rest before a final opinion is forwarded to the EPA administrator in DC.
