Taste And See Cape Cod

COMMUNITY EFFORT TO HELP HOMELESS PEOPLE

This year’s Taste and See Cape Cod will be held October 4 at Oyster Harbors Club in Osterville.

For more than a decade and a half this community effort has been raising money to make winter more bearable for our poorest neighbors here on the Cape. A spectrum of the mid-Cape’s finest restaurants will donate and serve examples of the area’s best cuisine. A full-stocked raw bar replete with oysters and clams, wine tastings, auctions and warm camaraderie in support of an important cause, complete the evening.

Local religious and political leaders are among those who will join with community members and leaders of the business community to assist Taste and See Cape Cod meet its goal of raising $100,000 to help provide food and shelter to homeless people this coming winter.

A featured aspect of the event is the “Give a Bed” auction which typically raises almost half of the total evening’s gross. Shelter providers have calculated that the cost of a bed for a night, the care and comfort of one person for a one-night stay, is approximately $50. The people in attendance are asked to bid the number of nights they can. Last year this item alone provided funds for 800 bed-nights here on the Cape.
