Brewster Police Wins Bowling Tournament, Raises Money for Charity
(HYANNIS, Ma. March 24, 2019)—The Brewster Police Department raised $1,000 for Children’s Cove after winning the championship trophy on Sunday in iHeart Cape Cod’s “Battle of the Badges,” Ten Pin’s first-ever bowling tournament for first responders.
Brewster’s Some Brotherhood—one of 21 teams representing police and fire departments from Plymouth to Provincetown—took home the trophy and won lunch delivery for their department, bragging rights and $1,000 for their charity of choice, Children’s Cove. The winning team included PJ Judge, Alden Childs, Brandon Rice and Charlie Mawn.
The event featured two rounds of games plus a playoff round. The team names were as lively as the game itself: Little Lebowski Urban Achievers (Eastham Firefighters), Prestige Worldwide (Chatham Police Department), Barnstable Broad Squad (Barnstable Police Department), Shark Bite (Truro Fire Department), Strike It While It’s Hot (Dennis Fire Department), among many others.
Ten Pin Eatery General Manager Zack McCaul says it was an honor to host the first-ever tournament with police and fire departments. “Ten Pin is a place that is all about families and community,” says McCaul. “It’s great to be able to host an event that celebrates our true heroes and raises money for local organizations at the same time. Because the day was so successful, we look forward to making this an annual event.”
The tournament, hosted by Kevin Matthews of iHeart Cape Cod, was sponsored by Seamen’s Bank and Advanced Embroidery.
