I wasn't watching the Oscars when Will Smith slapped Chris Rock across the face on live television, followed by his comment that Chris should stop talking about his wife. Of course, he used much more colorful language thn I just did!
However, I have been outraged since I saw the clips!
I know Chris Rock said he is not pressing charges...but, c'mon, we all saw it! It was on LIVE television! How can there not be any repercussions for an assault against another person. I mean, it wasn't self defense!
According to new polling coming out, about 67% of Americans think Will Smith should be charged for the assault.
Here's the interesting part...76% of people are coming out against Chris Rock for making an inappropriate joke against Will's wife, Jada.
But here's the thing, sources are now coming out saying that Chris had NO IDEA that Jada suffered from alopecia. I mean, I didn't know it either! He was just making a joke about her short buzz-cut style hairstyle, comparing it to Demi Moore in G.I. Jane!
Doesn't that change the whole ball game...and show why we can't, as a society, let violence, chivalrous or not, be the way we express our anger?!
