Concerns Continue Despite Smaller Plans For JBCC Gun Range

Federal Congressional leaders are still concerned even though the size of a proposed machine gun range on Joint Base Cape Cod has been scaled-back.

Revised plans have been sent to the Environmental Protection Agency but Representative Bill Keating and Senators Ed Markey and Elizabeth Warren say if federal funds will be used for the range, they want a more thorough study of the potential impact on water resources.

In a statement, they say urge JBCC to work with local officials and residents to protect Cape Cod's sole-source aquifer from contamination.

They also look forward to the EPA engaging with stakeholders and the community through the public comment process.
